Our 1-day personalised tour of Skye from Inverness takes in some of the most dramatic and stunning landscapes Scotland has to offer! See Loch Ness, learn about the history of Eilean Donan Castle and visit Portree, Kilt Rock and much more on our Skye tour from Inverness; the capital of the Highlands.
After departing from Inverness we travel south, hugging the shoreline of Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit for a quick comfort stop. Loch Ness stretches 24 miles long and over 700ft deep, it is most famous for its sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, affectionately known as ‘Nessie’.
After Loch Ness, our Skye Tour continues on to Eilean Donan Castle; one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. The castle is situated on its own island at the meeting point of three sperate lochs, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh. You'll have time to explore its atmospheric surroundings, or wander the castle itself (optional extra).
Afterwards, we continue our journey to the Isle of Skye, passing over the Skye Bridge, and stopping for a photo at the famous Sligachan bridge, where you'll be able to snap a quick photo a dip your face in the enchanted waters that run underneath. After our quick stop we move on to the small village of Portree for lunch. Portree, although a small harbour village, is the capital of Skye, and is surrounded by rocky cliffs and rolling hills. Its beautiful surroundings make it a perfect stop to have lunch and enjoy views of the boats.
Moving on, we visit various points of interest in Skye such as; Kilt Rock for amazing coastal views, take a short walk at Lealt Falls and admire the Old Man of Storr. After spending the afternoon exploring Skye and admiring its stunning scenery we will stop off on the return journey at Strome Viewpoint (April-October) for photos of Loch Carron before continuing homeward bound to Inverness, where your Isle of Skye day tour ends.
