One of the best day-trips from Glasgow is our Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands tour. This leisurely journey takes in some of the most dramatic scenery of the Scottish Highlands, visiting haunting Glencoe and allowing the option for a relaxing cruise on the loch.

Visit Dramatic Glencoe

From Glasgow our Loch Ness tour will travel north, before making a refreshment stop on the shores of Loch Lomond. Travelling the length of the loch, we climb up into the Highlands, over the unique, dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount to majestic Glencoe, one of Scotland's most haunting glens, site of 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan.

Enjoy Lunch in the Shadow of Ben Nevis

After taking in the stunning views of Glencoe and Loch Lomond, we'll then move along the coast of Loch Linnhe, before stopping in the Fort William area. Here, you'll have an hour to enjoy lunch and explore the beautiful scenery around Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK.

Go Nessie Hunting at Loch Ness

We'll then continue into the natural beauty of the Great Glen as we pass beneath Ben Nevis, travelling on, we will arrive in the pretty village of Fort Augustus where you have the chance to cruise Loch Ness (optional extra) or spend time exploring its shore and the picturesque canals and ruins.

From Fort Augustus, our Loch Ness tour will start its return for home, crossing the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, including the Forest of Atholl, with an evening refreshment stop at the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, en route back to Glasgow where our Loch Ness tour ends.

What should I bring with me?

As we like to give you as much time off the vehicle as possible with the opportunity for walks, we recommend you bring warm and/or waterproof clothing, wear comfortable walking shoes and take sun-block or a hat for sunny days.

Don't forget your camera to capture all the lovely scenery and wildlife you'll encounter on your tour!

Since we cannot allow hot food in our vehicles you could also bring a cold packed lunch with you to make the most of your time at each stop, this would be particularly time-saving in the busier months!

Can children travel on this tour?

Yes, unlike our scheduled tours, we are able to bring children of all ages on our private tours.

Please communicate with our team about what ages your children will be so that we are able to accommodate them with children's seats.

Will I see Nessie?

There have been many reported sightings over the years of "Nessie", - the affectionate name given to the mysterious creature that is reputed to live in the deep waters of Scotland's most famous loch, Loch Ness.

The myths and stories surrounding Nessie have fascinated both young and old alike for centuries - the earliest reported sighting by St. Columba back in the 6th Century!

So always have your camera at the ready - you never know if she's out there, just below the surface...

How accessible are the locations?

Some of the locations may cause accessibility issues due to their geography and architecture.

If you are a wheelchair user or have restricted mobility, we would suggest downloading this helpful Access Guide by Historic Environment Scotland.

If you can’t find what you are looking for, don't worry! Just because it's not here, doesn't mean we can't do it. Have a look at our private tour page or contact us directly, and we will make it happen!
