International Travel Restrictions Ending

News 18 Mar 2022
International restrictions for travel to Scotland are coming to an end.

On Friday 18th March 2022, all international travel restrictions for people coming to Scotland from abroad are ending. This applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. Passenger Locator Forms are no longer a necessity, and non-vaccinated passengers no longer need to take pre-departure or day two PCR tests. Proof of vaccinations is also no longer required. Acting together, the four nations of the United Kingdom (Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales) have all agreed to this change, meaning that there is greater cohesion between the nations, making it as simple as possible for people to visit the UK. Gone are the days of having to look up each country's rules before you leave, each of them will be the same.

This means that since the pandemic began, this is the easiest it has been for you to come here to visit us and get on board one of our award-winning tours of Scotland. We are so excited to be able to welcome even more of you to Scotland and show off its best bits! If you've been putting off travel due to complicated restrictions and never quite knowing what is happening in each country, this is the perfect time to take advantage of the restrictions ending and come over.

It'll be just like old times, you can hop on a boat or a plane, come over to Scotland and jump on board some of our tours. Whether it's one of our day trips departing from Inverness to visit the Isle of Skye and the Highlands, or a day tour from Edinburgh to Loch Ness for a spot of Nessie hunting. Why not make a weekend of it and go on our 3 day Isle of Skye and the Highlands tour departing from Glasgow or Edinburgh.

We understand that even though restrictions are easing, and a lot of things are changing and opening back up, COVID is still present in our lives and that is an understandable worry for a lot of us. Therefore, we'd like to take this moment to reassure you of the measures we are taking to keep you comfortable and ensure that travelling with us is as safe as possible.

Although no longer a legal requirement, we still encourage all passengers to "flow before you go", this means taking a lateral flow test test on the day of travel, just to ensure that you are testing negative to provide a bit of extra security.

For the time being, masks are still to be worn on our coaches unless medically exempt, this will help prevent the spread of particles through the bus. During the tour, your driver-guide will regularly clean high-traffic areas and touchpoints on the coach throughout the day.

Our coaches follow stringent cleaning procedures, and hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the coach. We routinely deep-clean the coaches after every tour to ensure our vehicles are as safe as possible for our customers.

We have Good To Go certification from Visit Scotland which shows we have carried out a risk assessment and are working strictly with government guidelines to make sure our tours are as safe as they possible can be for our customers. We have also received Safe Travels certification from the World Tourism Council which recognises we are adhering to their health and hygiene protocols.

If this was still too much of a concern for you however, we totally understand that. Our Private Hire service would always be a possibility for you. This allows you to hire one of our coaches and driver-guides just for your group, meaning you wouldn't have to mix with any other households, allowing you for a bit more peace of mind. What's more, you would then also be able to curate your dream tour, picking everything from the duration to the destinations, even where you would be picked up and dropped off. To learn more about this, follow the link, give us a ring at 0131 226 6066 or send our Private Hire team an email at bespoke@timberbushtours.com.

We here at Timberbush Tours are happy to hear this news as it means we will be able to welcome even more of you onto our tours of Scotland, showing you even more of our beautiful country from the borders, right up to John O'Groats, just in time for the summer and the longer, sunnier days ahead!
