It has been a fantastic summer for Scotland so far. The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games came to an end last week, exceeding everyone’s expectations as a world class event. Team Scotland even came 4th in the medal table finishing with 19 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals which is a fantastic achievement! Out goes the Commonwealth Games and in comes Edinburgh’s annual August festival which officially opened at the weekend.
It’s a great time to be in Scotland and we have had plenty of fantastic customers visiting the Highlands and other parts of Scotland with Timberbush Tours. Having had so many wonderful reviews and photos in from our customers over the last month, I thought it would be appropriate to share some in this week’s blog.
I would like to give a huge thank you to all our brilliant customers who have taken the time to leave reviews and send in pictures. We love seeing them in the office and the Driver-Guides appreciate the feedback so please keep them coming in.
For anyone who has not taken a tour around Scotland and the Highlands as of yet, make sure you take advantage this August. It is the best way to capture exactly what Scotland has to offer including lochs, mountains, castles and stunning scenery!
A nice way to get out of the city
“I took the day tour through the Highlands and Loch Ness and it was amazing! Our guide Stephen kept it interesting and entertaining throughout. The landscapes that you see are completely breath-taking, and the Loch Ness boat tour is a nice little break from being on the bus. It was so pleasant having such a great tour guide who is obviously passionate about what he does. I would definitely go on this tour again and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn some Scottish history and experience the Highlands first hand!” -Laura G
Thoroughly enjoyable day
“The full day tour covered a lot of miles so it was fast paced but still had plenty of stops for photo ops and exploring. Our driver, Stephen, was part historian, part comedian and did a masterful job of keeping to the schedule so that we were able to see as much as possible of the beautiful Scottish Highlands. We did take the optional add on boat trip across Loch Ness. Although we didn't find Nessie, my grandsons, 10 and 14, thought this was the highlight of the day. I highly recommend this tour.” -Akttner1
Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands
“My mom and I had a terrific time on this tour. It was a long day, but our guide Stephen was knowledgeable, entertaining and a great DJ. His passion for his country and for his work made our trip so enjoyable. He was also right about the fish n' chips in Pitlochery - they were the best that we tried during our time in the UK. We fell in love with Scotland, and thanks again Stephen for the CDs you gave us at the end of the tour. They are keeping our memories of Scotland alive.” -d2187
Smooth ride and an Excellent guide!!!
“We went on the day tour leaving Edinburgh to the Highlands and Loch Ness. It was BEAUTIFUL! We stopped every couple of hours to stretch legs. Patrick was our guide and he was so knowledgeable and good spirited. He made the trip even better! I WOULD recommend this tour and requesting him!”- Sadie Z
Three Day Isle of Skye Tour
“We booked the three day tour to Isle of Skye with Timberbush Tours. Our wonderful guide, Stuart, made sure we saw all of the highlights of the highlands with a few extras. He was enthusiastic and accommodating, especially when the temperatures were above-average on the bus! The tour bus is a great way to take in all of the beautiful scenery, with lots of opportunities for photo stops and chances to explore. Portree is the perfect spot to get away and relax after a long day of touring! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would recommend this as a great and easy way to see the Scottish highlands.” -jshannon2014
St. Andrews and the Fishing Villages of Fife with Timberbush “This was our third time to Scotland and the beautiful City of Edinburgh. Last year we enjoyed a day trip to Rosslyn Chapel, Scotish Borders and Glenkinchie Destillery. This year we decided to take two tours. The first one was West Highlands Lochs, Mountains and Castles. Two days later we took St. Andrews and the Fishing Villages of Five. Both tours with Timberbush proved to be highly enjoyable, informative and entertaining. The drivers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The weather cooperated fully ( this is rarity in Scotland even in the summer) the scenery was breathtaking, we were stopping to take pictures and never felt being pushed for time. I can highly recommend Timberbush and their Day Tours to anyone.” -Andrew K
Jakke Nikkarinen took this enchanting photo on our ‘Holy Island, Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle Tour’!!!
West Highland Lochs, Mountain and Castles
“We took this one day tour on July 13, 2014 and it was really worthy. We had the opportunity to know different places, castles, lochs, towns. Our driver was excellent and gave us clear and detailed explanations of everything, demonstrating he is very knowledgable. We cannot say what was better: Doune and Inveraray castles were amazing, Luss village enchanting , the overall scenery breathtaking. We could appreciate Scotland in a glimpse. We strongly recommend Timberbush day tours.” -Canuck5711
Great tour with Graeme
“Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our tour of Rosslyn Chapel and the borderlands. Our tour guide, Graeme was not only a wealth of knowledge and lore, but he had us in stitches half the time with his biting sense of humor. We shall recommend your tours to any and all. We had a fabulous and memorable time.” -Pam H
