Introducing the Magical Christmas Light Trail!

News 19 Aug 2022

Well, now that the heatwave is over, it’s as good a time as any to start thinking about Christmas – the stuff will be in the shops in a few weeks’ time anyway!

Our Holy Island, Alnwick Castle and the Kingdom of Northumbria tour is always one of our favourites, because it visits The Alnwick Garden. If you’ve had a chance to visit you’ll know how lovely it is, and you could easily spend a day going through all the sections, grabbing a wee bite to eat for lunch, getting lost in the Bamboo Maze, and having an ice cream on the swings in the Cherry Blossoms.

The only downside is that we only run that tour from April until October.

Well, not this year!

We are tree-mendously excited to offer our Magical Christmas Light Trail.

This December, to get you into the Christmas spirit, we have a very special co-ho-hoach trip. Departing from Edinburgh in the afternoon, we will head down the east coast, enjoying some beautiful views over the horizon in the winter sun (hopefully sun). After a wee comfort break in Berwick-upon-Tweed, we will continue towards our destination – The Alnwick Garden. You don’t even need to worry about paying for entry as that’s included in the price of your tour.

At Christmas, the Alnwick Garden you will know and love from our Holy Island tour is filled to the brim with lights, projections and decorations, rather than the flowers and plants that normally decorate it. We will jingle our bells here for 2 hours, exploring the garden and enjoying the beautiful light trail. Grab some ‘elfies under the all the lights and sample some of the food and drink available from the vendors.

The Garden really go all out for the Light Trail and it really is perfect for a romantic hand-held stroll under the fairy lights or a big family outing before the big day arrives. There might even be some mistletoe in there if you are looking for a Christmas date idea with someone you have excellent chemis-tree with.

After the 2 hours is up, we will head back up to Edinburgh following the same route back that we came down on – see how many houses you can see with all their decorations out and lit up.

With another short break in Berwick-upon-Tweed, we will arrive back in Edinburgh in the evening. If you don’t want your festive fun to end there, you could head down to the Edinburgh Christmas Markets for the rest of the night. Or, head home, get cosy with a mug of hot chocolate, and pop Elf or Home Alone on.

Yule not want to miss this tour, so get booking ASAP and pretend its not still 20 degrees outside.
