Spend a day travelling through a landscape of incredible natural beauty - a land of ancient castles mirrored in lochs, sheltered by mountains.
Leaving dynamic Glasgow this exciting day trip heads west to the HIGHLANDS where we pass DUMBARTON'S imposing ROCK with its equally impressive CASTLE. From here, our "ROAD TO THE ISLES" is marked by more dramatic castles (INVERARAY, KILCHURN, and DUNSTAFFNAGE), shimmering lochs, (LOCHS LOMOND, LONG, FYNE, AWE, ETIVE AND MORE) imposing mountains and rugged glens. A brief stop in the beautiful village of LUSS, on the "BONNIE, BONNIE BANKS" of LOCH LOMOND then we'll climb through the stunning scenery to the summit of the pass where travellers have had reason to "REST AND BE THANKFUL" before descending to sea level at LOCH FYNE.
Enjoy stops at INVERARAY with its GEORGIAN HOUSES at the water's edge in the shadow of the CLAN CAMPBELL CHIEF'S NEO-GOTHIC PALACE and the picturesque town of OBAN with its HORSE-SHOE BAY.
Your guide will take you to visit either INVERARAY CASTLE or DUNSTAFFNAGE CASTLE* - both equally impressive. On your descent you can enjoy breathtaking views across LOCH AWE to the ruins of KILCHURN CASTLE, with scenic mountains beyond. Don't forget to look for eagles in the PASS OF BRANDER as we commence our return journey, which takes us via the GREAT WESTERN ROAD back to Glasgow.
