A charming day tour with plenty of free time to enjoy and explore the ancient town of St. Andrews, Scotland's home of golf, as well as the surrounding fishing villages of the 'Kingdom of Fife'.
We leave Edinburgh, crossing the iconic Forth Bridge into the 'Kingdom of Fife', through the East Neuk, exploring the coastal villages and harbours, such as St. Monans and Crail, once thriving fishing centres which were made prosperous through trade with the continent.
After a brief stop in the town of Anstruther we move on to the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews, home to the oldest university in Scotland, and celebrated home of golf, with the renowned Old Course golf course right on the beach. Enjoy approximately three hours of free time to explore the town, its medieval buildings and wonderful cobbled streets in the centre, and have lunch.
Heading homewards we travel across the Lomond hills, descending to Loch Leven (scene of Queen Mary Stuart's imprisonment and escape) and on to the pretty little town of South Queensferry for a relaxing late-afternoon walk, before we return to Edinburgh.
Tour Highlights: East Neuk of Fife, Crail, Anstruther, St. Andrews, Loch Leven, Forth Road & Rail Bridges, South Queensferry
