St. Andrews & The Villages of Fife map

Journey through the ancient 'Kingdom of Fife' - once a Pictish princedom. Famed for its picturesque fishing villages, Medieval palaces, castles and - of course - St Andrews; home of golf, ancient seat of learning, and last known resting place of bones of St Andrew!

Crossing the famous FORTH BRIDGE to the 'KINGDOM OF FIFE', we travel along the EAST NEUK, through coastal villages and harbours, once thriving fishing centres made richer on trade with the continent, and on to the beautiful town of ST. ANDREWS; famous for its ecclesiastical past, its oldest of universities and celebrated home of GOLF. See the sites, have lunch and stroll back along the beach, among ruins or through the lanes for two hours or more.

Heading homeward we traverse the heart of the LOMOND HILLS, descending  to LOCH LEVEN (scene of MARY STUART'S imprisonment and escape) and on to the pretty village of SOUTH QUEENSFERRY where you can choose to take a wonderful afternoon cruise on the FIRTH OF FORTH, and enjoy magnificent views of the FORTH ROAD AND RAIL BRIDGES!
