Mystery, myth, legend, and history set among some of the most breathtaking scenery of the Scottish Highlands.
From Edinburgh we travel North West, passing STIRLING CASTLE, then stopping to visit our favourite HAMISH the Highland cow at KILMAHOG. We travel on, through the lands of the MACGREGORS (ROB ROY'S COUNTRY) and the CAMPBELLS, over RANNOCH MOOR and the BLACK MOUNT to awesome, tragic GLENCOE, setting for myth, misdeed and magnificence.
We enter the GREAT GLEN beneath Britain's highest mountain, BEN NEVIS, hugging canal, river and loch-side past FORT AUGUSTUS tracing the 24 mile shoreline of LOCH NESS passing URQUHART CASTLE.
Here, you can choose to visit this unique castle - made famous by many sightings of the LOCH NESS monster - followed by an optional JACOBITE 5-STAR CRUISE on the mysterious and legendary waters of LOCH NESS.
Loch Ness is the subject of the recent fantasy film, "WATERHORSE - LEGEND OF THE DEEP". This new film tells the story of two children who find an egg on the beach in Scotland, which hatches into a "water horse" - the "water horse, named Crusoe, grows up to be the legendary Loch Ness monster.
At INVERNESS we start our return for home, crossing the GRAMPIANS and the FOREST OF ATHOLL with a choice of evening refreshment stops en route back to Edinburgh.
